How Nick is perceived by others and how he actually is can vary. He’s a rubix cube, a complete mystery, at times to most. Being one to keep his emotions and feelings to himself, he builds a wall, hiding behind a cocky and sarcastic barrier that he shows people to hide the gentler person he secretly is. In truth, he is loyal and trustworthy but due to the impression he has on people, judgements can be made that are complete opposite; not that Nick cares about what others think of him. To those he truly cares about, he’d do anything for.
Independent and free, he likes to do as he pleases when he pleases with no one trying to hold him back or tell him what to do. It’s not unheard of for Nick to find himself in a spot of trouble and it’s not always accidental either, often deliberately throwing himself into such conditions for whatever reasons most don’t know. A lonely soul, his reasons include secretly desiring the attention, genuinely wanting to help out but refusing to say or portray such actions willingly or often because there’s a pretty damsel in need of saving.
Nick has never truly felt like he fit in, always trying to reach the top of a mountain that’s just not built for him. However, resilient and incredibly stubborn, he’s not one to admit defeat and thus will rarely give up. For someone so confident, he hides signs of insecurity, pushing onwards, coveting power, success and driving to make a name out of himself, to make a difference in one way or another, no matter what extremes that may entail. Change and achievement does not come without effort however, and thus he’s always active and living life to each moment rather than sitting about waiting for anything to come to him. He’s never been one to whom things will come easy to him, naturally one of those people who seem to have luck on their side. But regardless, Nick is one who believes in taking action and fighting for what one wants.
Robert Myers was not the complete family man his image told him to be. There was far more underneath that friendly, loving exterior; darker, fearful secrets that could destroy his family life. Nicholas’s biological parents, Robert and Margaret Myers, hid more secrets from the world than they ever cared to mention. Of course, every family does have their secrets, but the family harboured theirs from the judging world to keep their financial and happy family life intact.
Working in the law firm was not all it promised to be to begin with and Robert found himself getting into a spot of bother while socialising, something that became a bit of an addition in the gambling front. A social hobby soon turned into something far more serious and money troubles presented themselves to the family. At the same time, Margaret found herself to be pregnant, with twins. The parents had not planned for two children and with their finances at current, they knew they were unable to support and raise both of them. Robert tried to break free of the gambling in order to help his wife with the two expected children, but regardless, they were still low in the money front.
Then, as if by some answered prayer, an acquaintance, knowing of their situations, offered to make a deal. His wife could not conceive a child, breaking the woman with a dream of hers to be raising a family. An unbelievable sum of money was offered. A child for the financial stability. Such an offer should never be considered lightly, nor should it even we dwelled upon, but the Myers family circumstances were nearing grave change and the offer proved much thought.
The lawyer agreed to the deal; it was best for the child’s wellbeing if he were given away, he would be given a better shot at life. Closing the deal it was promised the secret remain just that, a secret, and stay that way. Only, secrets never do stay hidden forever.
In agreement, Nick’s parents, Jane and Graham Fable, moved from the city of NYC to the state of Chicago, where he spent his life growing up. While Nick’s twin, Chris, grew up with his birth parents, climbing the social ladder and living life with no mention of the baby they gave up, he grew up in the care of two generally regular parents. They’re living was average but Nick was loved dearly by the couple who raised him from a baby. Where his twin went to some of the best schools offered, Nick attended public schools, learning vital skills in survival and independence. He learned to strive for and fight for what he so desired, never letting anyone hold him back. With his positive attitude, he made his way through school being noticed, a good group of friends and involved in events and parties.
After graduating from school, Nick’s father had taken a turn for the worse and descended deeply into sickness. It was on his deathbed that he revealed the truth to Nicholas of his family, but despite that he had always been loved. Nick knew that to be true but now the truth was revealed to him, he couldn’t help but be curious of his past, of his supposed brother out there somewhere. His mother, residing in a comfortable retirement home, had not been directly involved in the exchange upon Nick’s birth and so could only give him little information to go off of.
While Nick bounced about with odd jobs here and there, never being one to stick to the same trade for too long, he spent time on the side researching and looking for his family. After some years, he finally found a lead in Stonebrook. With little in the way of a job to leave behind, Nicholas packed up his things, and headed to Stonebrook where he hoped to find answers of his past and unknown family.
