Wednesday, Feb. 15th: Guinevere's Apple Pie eating contest!

It had seemed that Nick had arrived in Stonebrook during a time of festivities...that or it was a creepy, far too jolly, town that thought itself to be Main Street at Disneyland. He sincerely found himself hoping it to be the first. But for some reason, from what he had so far seen, he wasn’t sure if it would be too out of place to consider the latter, as terrifying as that may be for he felt more like he’d walked onto a set of Hansel and Gretel. Anyways, whatever the jolliness of this town, he was here now and he wasn’t leaving without answers to his questions. Something had brought him here and he was happy to stay on that adventure for now.

Walking through the streets, he noticed stalls and laugher of random faces passing by. Nick smiled an uncertain smile at them and was a little unnerved to have them beaming back at him, often with the reply of a ‘hello’ so chirpy as if they knew him, between that and him often realising people were turning and smiling their greetings at him before he even acknowledged him. Okay, so screw Disneyland, this was turning into the Wickerman at this rate. Regardless, the stranger returned the smiles a little uncertainly as he walked on through the streets till he reached a large gathering of people standing as if they were crowded round for something. Naturally, curiosity drew him forwards to see what the interest was about.

As he neared he noticed a table filled with pies, rather tasty looking pies at that, and people looking like they were setting up or busying themselves ready for something. Not standing too near to the crowd to feel uncomfortable, Nicholas stayed a short distance behind the rest of the crowd, though with those oncoming found himself somewhat in the middle of the group anyways. Still, he was at the side and had a getaway if needed, if they started chanting to burn the stranger in town for example. He didn’t think so, he did think the town was generally an overly chipper town with the festivities being held, but the thought amused him nonetheless. Glancing around his eyes caught that of someone who he had met in his gaze. Nick raised his brows, his lips twisting into somewhat of a smile. Dark gaze lingered longer on the person returning his gaze and he was beginning to feel just slightly uncomfortable with all this random friendliness. Did they act like this with everyone who visited the town?

In all honestly, Nick wasn’t entirely sure what he had expected but it definitely wasn’t this. Maybe he expected something with a little bit more...life? Something with the city bustle and bright lights, like the large city living he was used to? Instead this was like something Pleasantville style in his opinion, maybe a retirement community. Yeah, really not his idea of a party around here. Nicholas liked the neon lights of the cities, he was used to the constant noise of people and traffic at all hours of the day, of the bleeping of pedestrian crossings, the chase and the trouble that loomed around every corner. Living life day by day, spontaneous, by word of mouth, was the way Nick liked to live right now; settling down was something he could worry about tomorrow. It was such decisions that brought Nick to Stonebrook, the desire to discover more of his past, of who he was, or at least who his family were. Nick was a firm believer that you were who you choose to be and not who you were born at, destiny was what you made it he liked to think.

But this little, quaint, slightly depressing town passed him by as he purposefully walked down the street approaching a dominant clock tower. He wondered if he looked out of place as much as he felt in this setting, little did he know how much he did fit in here. Nick hadn’t really left much behind. The woman he had always called and cared for as his mother was safe and well and his job...well, he wasn’t one who seemed to be able to stick at the same job for too long, he liked to try new things, to move about, and a nine to five job was just far too much of a routine for his liking. What the appeal of a predictable living was, would always baffle him greatly. But hey, if that was what you enjoyed in life why not? For him, however, he could think of an exceedingly long list of ‘why not’s’. Girlfriend? He had nothing steady to leave behind. And thus, Nick had found himself looking for something new and fresh but instead had found...this...

Walking onwards his attention was drawn to the same posters displayed across the street. Slowly walking over to where one was neatly pinned against a lamp post, he pulled it off gently, taking in the information. A masquerade ball. Why did that not surprise him? The town pretty much shouted out such events without any posters needed. His eyes scanned the writing, Queen Marissa? Queen? What was this place?

Nick likes to keep his emotions to himself most of the time. That’s not to say he’s not social, quite the contrary, enjoying the company of others and any spontaneous meetings. He’s a caring, trustworthy guy, however, he doesn’t tend to like showing such characteristics and hides behind a wall of charm and sarcasm at the most of times.

He’s a bit of a trouble maker, not really keeping to rules (they’re only made to be broken afterall, right?) and living for a good time. He grew up in an average lifestyle where he wasn’t poor but worked and appreciated all he got. He’s grew up in the setting where he always has hidden insecurities to the point it’s no longer even difficult, merely a switch. Nick’s got a weakness for pretty ladies which will likely be his downfall.

Only recently arrived in Stonebrook, he’s still trying to find his way around the strange town. A lead on his biological family lead him here where he hopes to find some answers of his past and family; his twin being Christophe Myers.

Friendly and flirtatious, Nick loves the attention of anyone willing to give him it. He’s got a softer side that would be nice for someone to find, but it would probably take some time and getting to know one another. Don’t expect anything to happen over night with this guy, he’s got an objective in town and enjoys being carefree and living life right now.

How Nick is perceived by others and how he actually is can vary. He’s a rubix cube, a complete mystery, at times to most. Being one to keep his emotions and feelings to himself, he builds a wall, hiding behind a cocky and sarcastic barrier that he shows people to hide the gentler person he secretly is. In truth, he is loyal and trustworthy but due to the impression he has on people, judgements can be made that are complete opposite; not that Nick cares about what others think of him. To those he truly cares about, he’d do anything for.

Independent and free, he likes to do as he pleases when he pleases with no one trying to hold him back or tell him what to do. It’s not unheard of for Nick to find himself in a spot of trouble and it’s not always accidental either, often deliberately throwing himself into such conditions for whatever reasons most don’t know. A lonely soul, his reasons include secretly desiring the attention, genuinely wanting to help out but refusing to say or portray such actions willingly or often because there’s a pretty damsel in need of saving.

Nick has never truly felt like he fit in, always trying to reach the top of a mountain that’s just not built for him. However, resilient and incredibly stubborn, he’s not one to admit defeat and thus will rarely give up. For someone so confident, he hides signs of insecurity, pushing onwards, coveting power, success and driving to make a name out of himself, to make a difference in one way or another, no matter what extremes that may entail. Change and achievement does not come without effort however, and thus he’s always active and living life to each moment rather than sitting about waiting for anything to come to him. He’s never been one to whom things will come easy to him, naturally one of those people who seem to have luck on their side. But regardless, Nick is one who believes in taking action and fighting for what one wants.

History

Robert Myers was not the complete family man his image told him to be. There was far more underneath that friendly, loving exterior; darker, fearful secrets that could destroy his family life. Nicholas’s biological parents, Robert and Margaret Myers, hid more secrets from the world than they ever cared to mention. Of course, every family does have their secrets, but the family harboured theirs from the judging world to keep their financial and happy family life intact.

Working in the law firm was not all it promised to be to begin with and Robert found himself getting into a spot of bother while socialising, something that became a bit of an addition in the gambling front. A social hobby soon turned into something far more serious and money troubles presented themselves to the family. At the same time, Margaret found herself to be pregnant, with twins. The parents had not planned for two children and with their finances at current, they knew they were unable to support and raise both of them. Robert tried to break free of the gambling in order to help his wife with the two expected children, but regardless, they were still low in the money front.

Then, as if by some answered prayer, an acquaintance, knowing of their situations, offered to make a deal. His wife could not conceive a child, breaking the woman with a dream of hers to be raising a family. An unbelievable sum of money was offered. A child for the financial stability. Such an offer should never be considered lightly, nor should it even we dwelled upon, but the Myers family circumstances were nearing grave change and the offer proved much thought.

The lawyer agreed to the deal; it was best for the child’s wellbeing if he were given away, he would be given a better shot at life. Closing the deal it was promised the secret remain just that, a secret, and stay that way. Only, secrets never do stay hidden forever.

In agreement, Nick’s parents, Jane and Graham Fable, moved from the city of NYC to the state of Chicago, where he spent his life growing up. While Nick’s twin, Chris, grew up with his birth parents, climbing the social ladder and living life with no mention of the baby they gave up, he grew up in the care of two generally regular parents. They’re living was average but Nick was loved dearly by the couple who raised him from a baby. Where his twin went to some of the best schools offered, Nick attended public schools, learning vital skills in survival and independence. He learned to strive for and fight for what he so desired, never letting anyone hold him back. With his positive attitude, he made his way through school being noticed, a good group of friends and involved in events and parties.

After graduating from school, Nick’s father had taken a turn for the worse and descended deeply into sickness. It was on his deathbed that he revealed the truth to Nicholas of his family, but despite that he had always been loved. Nick knew that to be true but now the truth was revealed to him, he couldn’t help but be curious of his past, of his supposed brother out there somewhere. His mother, residing in a comfortable retirement home, had not been directly involved in the exchange upon Nick’s birth and so could only give him little information to go off of.

While Nick bounced about with odd jobs here and there, never being one to stick to the same trade for too long, he spent time on the side researching and looking for his family. After some years, he finally found a lead in Stonebrook. With little in the way of a job to leave behind, Nicholas packed up his things, and headed to Stonebrook where he hoped to find answers of his past and unknown family.
